Role Description
This is a full time remote role for a Medical Career Counselor for High School Students. The Medical Career Counselor will guide middle and high school students in exploring educational and career pathways in medicine and healthcare.
The role involves mentoring students interested in becoming doctors, designing and delivering educational workshops, and providing insights into global medical education pathways including the United States, United Kingdom, and other international systems. The candidate will support students in identifying their strengths, interests, and long term goals while helping them build strong academic and extracurricular profiles.
The role also includes outreach to schools and student communities, building partnerships with counselors and educators, and expanding the Future Doctors program through strategic engagement with schools and student networks.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one on one career counseling and mentorship to students interested in medicine and healthcare careers
Guide students in understanding global medical education pathways and admission requirements
Design and conduct workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions related to healthcare, medicine, and medical career exploration
Support students in developing strong academic and extracurricular profiles including research, volunteering, competitions, and summer programs
Build relationships with schools, counselors, and educators to introduce and expand the Future Doctors program
Conduct outreach to schools and student communities to recruit students and promote the program
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, doctors, and medical students to bring guest speakers and mentorship opportunities to students
Track student progress and provide ongoing feedback and guidance
Qualifications
Expertise in career counseling, career development, or academic advising
Experience mentoring or counseling middle and high school students
Strong communication skills including active listening, mentoring, and presentation abilities
Knowledge of academic pathways and career opportunities in medicine and healthcare
Experience organizing workshops, seminars, or educational programs
Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively in a remote environment
Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, education, biology, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
Preferred Background
Doctor, medical resident, healthcare professional, or pre medical advisor
Experience working with international students or global education programs
Experience collaborating with schools, counselors, or academic institutions
Passion for mentoring students and helping them explore careers in medicine.
