About UsAt Pando Data, we build visual AI and high-accuracy dimensional measurement systems for harsh industrial environments. We're looking for an intern who enjoys turning theory into working hardware and thinking through real-world constraints, not just ideal designs.
The work spans CAD, mechanical assembly, precision alignment, and validation in the presence of heat, vibration, and access constraints. This is a hands-on, end-to-end engineering project, not a simulation exercise.
What You'll Work On- Design aluminium profile frames and C-gate structures in CAD
- Support the full build cycle: design procurement assembly testing
- Assist with sensor mounting, alignment, and calibration
- Evaluate stiffness, deflection, and thermal effects in mechanical rigs
- Create basic drawings, BOMs, and assembly/alignment documentation
- Participate in measurement repeatability and validation tests
- Work closely with engineers across design and testing
Who We're Looking For- Bachelor's (ongoing or completed) in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering
- Comfortable with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar)
- Familiar with mechanical assemblies, fasteners, aluminium profiles, and basic measurement tools
- Hands-on mindset comfortable in a lab or workshop
- Bonus: aluminium machining, electronics/soldering, basic data analysis (Excel / Python / MATLAB)
- Clear communicator who documents work properly
We value original thinkers with strong fundamentals more than narrow specialization.
What You'll Gain- First-hand understanding of how mechanical design impacts measurement accuracy
- Practical experience with precision alignment and calibration
- Exposure to real-world error sources: thermal drift, vibration, tolerance stack-ups
- End-to-end ownership of an engineering system
- Tangible work you can showcase in a portfolio or thesis
Why Join- Real industrial system, real constraints, real outcomes
- Learn where microns meet heat and mechanics
- Direct mentorship from engineers in automation and metrology
