This position is accountable for the custom mechanical engineering of LV & MV Switchgear orders, focusing on design, quality, and timely project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Custom Mechanical Engineering: Design LV & MV Switchgear orders based on specific requirements.
- Bill of Material Preparation: Create Mechanical Bill of Materials using standard designs, based on electrical and customer inputs.
- Custom Assembly Design: Design custom assemblies when standard options are not available to meet unique requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all orders and projects meet expected quality standards.
- Schedule Adherence: Complete orders and projects within specified timelines.
- Process Improvement: Work on initiatives aimed at enhancing engineering processes.
- Technical Support: Provide virtual technical support to the shop floor for engineered orders.
- Assignments: Take on stretched assignments as needed.
Required Competencies
- Technical Knowledge:Mechanical Design Engineering.
- Manufacturing processes and assemblies.
- Sheetmetal operations and processing.
- Low voltage switchboard/switchgear design, installation, and use (Preferred).
- Ability to interpret basic front elevation, one-line, and schematic drawings (Preferred).
- Experience in mechanical design of low/medium voltage switchgear (Preferred).
- Software Proficiency: 3D modeling and designing experience in ProE/Creo (Part, Sheetmetal, Assembly, and Drawing modules).
- Virtual Environment Work: Ability to work effectively in a virtual environment without physically seeing the product (as manufacturing plants are in North America).
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication; able to interact with Electrical Engineers, Customers, Project Managers, and Trainers to find design solutions.
- Teamwork: A strong team player, able to work in a multicultural team.
- Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal and customer relation skills.
- Training Ability: Ability to train other engineers on Creo Software (Preferred).
Preferred Competencies
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing, or close collaboration with manufacturing.
- Designing and manufacturing experience in sheetmetal.
- Knowledge of low voltage switchboard/switchgear design, installation, and use.
- Ability to interpret basic front elevation, one-line, and schematic drawings.
- Experience in mechanical design of low/medium voltage switchgear.
- Ability to train other engineers on Creo Software.

Qualification & Experience
- Educational Background: BE/B.Tech Mechanical or equivalent.
- Experience:2-4 years of relevant experience with a BE/B.Tech.
- 4-6 years of experience with a Diploma Mechanical or equivalent
