Job Description

About Antropi Robotics

We are building the Factory of the Future. Based in Bengaluru, we are redefining manufacturing by integrating intelligent robotic systems, vision-driven automation, and AI-powered scheduling software into real production environments.

Our goal is to enable factories to operate with significantly higher uptime, better machine utilization, and more autonomous workflows.

You will be joining a talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from top institutions in India and abroad, including IITs and Ivy League universities, as well as high-caliber engineers and operators who have built in robotics, manufacturing, automation, deep-tech, and startup environments.

About the Role

We are looking for a high-ownership Mechanical Engineering to help design, build, manufacture, test, and improve mechanical systems for Antropi's autonomous factory.

This is not a pure CAD or desk-design role. The ideal candidate should enjoy the full engineering cycle:

  • Understanding the problem
  • Designing the system
  • Getting parts manufactured
  • Assembling prototypes
  • Testing them inside our factory
  • Finding failures
  • Improving the design through multiple iterations

You will work closely with the founders and engineering team on real hardware systems that will be deployed in manufacturing environments.

This role is best suited for someone who likes building things with their hands, solving practical mechanical problems, and taking responsibility for whether a design actually works in the real world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design & Prototyping: Design mechanical systems, fixtures, assemblies, mounts, mechanisms, and supporting structures for robotic automation inside CNC factories.
  • Manufacturing & Vendor Coordination: Work with fabricators, machinists, vendors, and suppliers to get parts manufactured, sourced, modified, and assembled.
  • Assembly & Testing: Participate directly in assembling prototypes, testing systems in our own factory setup, identifying mechanical issues, and improving performance.
  • Design Iteration: Use test results, failures, and real-world constraints to improve designs across multiple iterations.
  • Factory Automation Systems: Work on mechanical subsystems for autonomous factory workflows involving robotic arms, CNC machines, gantry systems, AMRs, fixtures, sensors, and machine interfaces.
  • Documentation & Drawings: Create clear CAD models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, assembly notes, and test observations so that designs can be built, reviewed, and improved reliably.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with robotics, software, electronics, and manufacturing teams to ensure mechanical systems integrate properly with the overall automation stack.

Required Skills & Traits

  • Strong Mechanical Fundamentals: Good understanding of mechanisms, materials, machine design, manufacturing processes, tolerances, fasteners, structures, and practical design constraints.
  • CAD & Design Ability: Comfortable using CAD tools to create parts, assemblies, and manufacturing-ready drawings.
  • Hands-On Builder Mindset: Excited to work beyond the screen by assembling, testing, debugging, and improving real mechanical systems.
  • Manufacturing Awareness: Basic understanding of machining, sheet metal, fabrication, welding, 3D printing, laser cutting, and vendor-driven manufacturing processes.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Can break down ambiguous mechanical problems, generate practical solutions, test quickly, and improve based on results.
  • High Ownership: Takes responsibility for outcomes, follows through without constant reminders, and cares deeply about whether the final system works reliably.
  • Comfort with Iteration: Understands that real engineering involves failures, redesigns, field testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Structured Execution: Can maintain design files, BOMs, task trackers, vendor notes, and clear updates for the team.

Preferred Background

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience with student engineering teams, robotics teams, or hardware startups is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar CAD tools is preferred.
  • Hands-on exposure to machining, fabrication, prototyping, 3D printing, CNC, welding, sheet metal, or assembly will be highly valued.

Role Details

  • Location: Bengaluru, on-site and factory-based
  • Role Type: 6-month internship with potential full-time conversion
  • Function: Mechanical Engineering / Robotics Hardware / Factory Automation
  • Reporting To: Founders and Engineering Team

Conversion Opportunity: High-performing interns who demonstrate strong ownership, hands-on problem-solving ability, mechanical design skill, and the ability to take systems from design to manufacturing and testing may be considered for a full-time role at Antropi Robotics.

Why Join Antropi

This is not a role where you only design parts and hand them off to someone else. You will work on real mechanical systems that are built, tested, broken, improved, and deployed inside an autonomous factory environment.

You will work directly with a high-caliber robotics team, get exposure to the complete hardware development cycle, and help build the mechanical backbone of a deep-tech company bringing robotics and AI into real manufacturing environments.
