Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Team Lead Mechanical Engineering to lead and mentor a team of engineers in delivering high-quality vehicle systems. The role requires strong technical expertise, people leadership skills, and ownership of project delivery across cost, quality, and timelines. The focus will primarily be on electric two-wheelers and automotive systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of mechanical engineers
- Take ownership of team deliverables, quality, and timelines
- Break down project-level requirements into system- and component-level specifications
- Review and guide mechanical designs to ensure engineering standards and best practices are followed
- Plan and manage resources, budgets, and schedules for assigned projects
- Identify risks related to cost, quality, or delivery and escalate proactively
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and external stakeholders
- Support validation activities, including DFMEA, testing, and production readiness
- Ensure proper documentation of designs, learnings, and best practices
- Present technical concepts and project updates to stakeholders when required
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design within automotive or EV domains
- Prior experience in leading or mentoring engineers
- Strong understanding of vehicle-level engineering and system integration
- Experience in areas such as chassis, brakes, suspension, plastics, sheet metal, transmission, or vehicle integration
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Creo or similar) and 2D drawings
- Knowledge of GD&T, DFM/DFA/DFS, and value engineering
- Experience with CAE tools and validation methodologies
- Familiarity with project management processes
- Prior EV or two-wheeler experience is an advantage
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Hands-on engineering and production exposure preferred
- Participation in Formula Student or similar projects is a plus
