The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.
The impact you'll make
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

What You'll Do
- Design and develop mechanical components and fixtures for robotic systems, including end-of-arm tooling and integration with tool changers
- Support the full product development life cycle from concept, CAD modeling, and prototyping to validation and productization
- Perform detailed engineering analyses such as structural integrity, FEA, stress, and thermal assessments to ensure robust designs
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (GD&T, SEMI, safety regulations) and internal documentation practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, controls, software) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into robotic systems
- Develop & execute test plans for feasibility studies, performance validation of robotic fixtures and assemblies
- Optimize designs for manufacturability and automation, considering cost, scalability, and precision requirements
- Prepare technical documentation and presentations for design reviews, stakeholder communication, and knowledge sharing
- Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance
- Troubleshoot and resolve design or integration issues during development and deployment phases
Mandatory Skills
Who we're looking for
- Proficient in concept design and development of medium complex mechanical components/simple sub-system as well Pneumatic system
- Expertise in fixture design, including integration with robotic tool changers.
- Basic understanding of robotic systems, kinematics, and end-of-arm tooling
- Familiarity with GD&T standards and industry best practices
- Ability to design for automation and precision assembly
- Proficient in translating design requirements into parameters for OEM component selection
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, additive manufacturing)
- Proficiency in mechanical design and CAD modelling (SolidWorks, NX, or similar tools)
- Experience in feasibility studies, design validation, and test planning
- Ability to perform critical review & gain approval of medium complex design models/documentation
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, controls, manufacturing)
- Excellent technical communication for reports and presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's in mechanical engineering with 3 to 7 Yrs Exp.
- Proficient in 3D CAD tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.
- Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.
- This is a graduate eligible role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
- Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Experience in project management, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. On-site Flex you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
