Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for the complete design lifecycle of mechanical components and systems, from initial concept and prototyping through to mass manufacturing. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in machine design, a proactive problem-solving attitude, and a passion for creating efficient and reliable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Develop detailed mechanical designs for new products and components, utilizing strong machine design fundamentals and incorporating best practices.
- Materials Expertise: Apply a thorough understanding of material science and selection to optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Problem Solving: Identify and analyze design flaws, diagnose issues within existing designs, and propose effective rectification solutions.
- Prototyping & Refinement: Rapidly develop prototype designs and iterate based on testing and feedback, ultimately adapting designs for mass manufacturing considerations.
- Simulation & Analysis: Conduct simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD) to validate designs, predict performance, and identify potential weaknesses.
- CAD Proficiency: Utilize advanced CAD software (SolidWorks/Autodesk Inventor) to create accurate 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
- Vendor Collaboration: Effectively communicate design requirements and specifications to vendors for parts manufacturing, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and concise design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
Skills:
- Strong Machine Design Fundamentals: Solid understanding of mechanical principles, statics, dynamics, and strength of materials.
- CAD Software: Expert proficiency in SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Simulation Software: Experience with FEA and/or CFD software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL) a strong plus.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
- Material Science: Knowledge of various materials, their properties, and appropriate selection criteria.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.
