Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to support the implementation, optimization, and improvement of fabrication and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in tool and die design, manufacturing methods, and design for manufacturing (DFM). This role plays a critical part in designing, testing, and enhancing manufacturing systems to ensure productivity, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality, cost, efficiency, and production speed
  • Design, develop, and test automated and manual manufacturing systems
  • Design and assist in the installation and commissioning of manufacturing equipment as per production requirements
  • Conduct mold, tooling, and fixture design reviews with engineering, operations, and quality teams
  • Prepare and review technical drawings and drafting for machine shop vendors
  • Coordinate with vendors for fabrication, machining, and tooling development
  • Support product assembly activities and perform functional testing to validate design intent
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability, reduce cost, and enhance product quality
  • Plan and manage manufacturing workflows, layouts, and resource utilization
  • Integrate material handling systems and equipment movement solutions
  • Optimize facility layouts, production lines, and machine operations
  • Identify and resolve production issues, bottlenecks, and quality concerns
  • Implement cost-reduction and process-improvement initiatives while maintaining quality standards
  • Train production staff on new and existing fabrication and assembly processes
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations
  • Support the adoption of new technologies, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives

Mandatory Experience

  • Drafting and documentation for machine shop vendors, including machining drawings and specifications
  • Hands-on experience in product assembly and functional testing
  • Strong working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in mechanical design or manufacturing engineering
  • Strong knowledge of tool and die design, fixtures, and fabrication processes
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and quality control techniques
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and MS Office tools
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Willingness to work extended or late shifts when required
