Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of mechanical test fixtures, test setups, and test benches based on input from relevant stakeholders. The candidate will collaborate with the Test Lab Team, Engineering Team, and suppliers on the design and development of test equipment and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative, scalable, and flexible test setups and test fixtures in a lab environment, consistent with the validation requirements of the product.
- Independently design and create drawings of fixtures for specific applications.
- Develop test setups or test benches by generating concepts, analyzing designed concepts, and designing fixtures for robustness and fatigue life expectancy.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure designs meet requirements and specifications.
Requirements:
- Experience in machine design with the ability to design from physics and engineering fundamentals, including hand calculations, strength of materials, and selection of standard machine elements.
- Good knowledge of standard processes like Toll Gate, DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and EHS protocols followed during the test development stages.
- Project management and planning skills, with the ability to provide accurate estimates for test needs.
- Familiarity with industrial automation and controls development.
- Good knowledge of GD&T, materials, and manufacturing processes, with experience in inspection methodologies and generating/reviewing manufacturable drawings.
- Basic knowledge and experience in component testing (fatigue, endurance, reliability, environmental, functional, vibration, etc.).
Required Skills:
- Experience in the design and development of test fixtures and setups.
- Ability to create concepts from requirements.
- UG NX certification is an advantage.
- Experience in PLM processes and change management.
Preferred Skills:
- Ansys FEA analysis workbench experience is an added advantage.
