Mechanical and Product Design Engineer

ABOUT SMARTSHAKE VENDING

We're building Smartshake an automated protein shake vending machine designed for gyms.

The machine combines mechanical automation, electronics, and software to dispense fresh shakes in under 60 seconds. Inside the system are mechanisms for cup dispensing, liquid pumping, powder dosing, stirring, and motion control all coordinated through embedded electronics.

We currently have a fully working prototype, and are now refining the design to make it more reliable, manufacturable, and production-ready.

We're a small team building a real hardware product from scratch, and we're looking for engineers who enjoy designing and improving physical machines.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer who enjoys building and improving real machines.

You will work on the mechanical systems inside the Smartshake machine, including dispensing mechanisms, motion systems, and structural design. The role involves CAD design, prototyping, testing mechanisms, and improving reliability and manufacturability.

You'll play a key role in refining the current prototype into a robust product that can be manufactured and deployed at scale.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

• Designing mechanical assemblies using CAD
• Improving mechanisms such as cup dispensing, powder dispensing, stirring systems, and motion assemblies
• Designing mounts and structures for motors, pumps, sensors, and electronics
• Working on lead screw / belt / linear motion systems
• Building and testing mechanical prototypes
• Designing parts suitable for CNC, sheet metal, and 3D printing
• Improving assembly and serviceability of the machine
• Working closely with electronics and firmware engineers during system integration

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics
• Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / similar)
• Understanding of mechanisms and machine design
• Basic understanding of manufacturing methods such as sheet metal, CNC machining, and 3D printing
• Ability to prototype and test mechanical systems

BONUS POINTS

• Built robots, automation systems, or mechanical projects
• Experience working with motors, linear motion systems, or mechanical actuators
• Participated in robotics competitions or engineering build teams
• Experience building physical prototypes
