Astellas Global Capability Centers Overview

Astellas Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and to co-locate core capabilities that are currently dispersed. Our three GCCs are located in India, Poland and Mexico.

Purpose And Scope

The Data MDM Solutions Partner is part of the Customer Engagement Excellence (CEE) team within the broader Value Delivery organization. CEE is an integrated global group focused on supporting capabilities across VALUE Delivery, including Commercial (Sales/Marketing), Market Access and Medical Affairs, to enhance delivery and outcomes to the business, whilst prioritizing ethical decision making. During all such activities, there is a need to ensure that the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs capabilities is not compromised. The Chapter Lead is expected to proactively communicate and consult with members of the CEE team and senior Medical Affairs management as necessary to ensure that the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs is maintained at all times.

As MDM Solutions Partner, you will perform a critical role within the Data Strategy Practice. This is a global, strategic and hands-on role responsible for the design, delivery, and ongoing stewardship of Master Data Management (MDM) capabilities. This role will work across the VALUE Delivery organization (Commercial and Medical Affairs) and other VALUE verticals (VALUE Creation: Research and Development, Clinical Operations, etc. and VALUE Enablement: DigitalX/IT, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Finance, etc.), and global/regional/local affiliate business teams to ensure high-quality, compliant, and value-driven master data management processes and data deliverables. The Partner role is accountable for project execution, strategic MDM roadmap support and the evolution of stewardship practices, reinforcing both implementation and business-as-usual (BAU) operations for Customer and Product MDM, with potential to expand to other domains over time.

In the role of Chapter Member, the individual executes day-to-day activities within their assigned Value Team, with responsibilities that may vary according to the team's mandate. Within the Value Team, the Chapter Member focuses on resolving specific business challenges for the organization. Value Teams are established and evolve in response to changing business objectives, and Chapter Members serve as key business partners, applying their expertise to drive organizational results.

As a Value Team member, the individual collaborates with cross-functional resources to achieve defined objectives and outcomes, working from a prioritized backlog of tasks. The Chapter Member works directly with the Value Team Lead to execute the team's strategy and deliverables in alignment with its mission.

The Chapter Member receives capability and skillset development under the guidance of the Chapter Lead, who provides coaching and mentoring within the Agile model.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Value Team Delivery
  • Serve as a core member of the MDM Value Team within GrowthX Hub, leading cross-functional delivery of Customer & Product MDM capabilities.
  • Partner with senior leaders across the VALUE Delivery functions (global, regional, and local stakeholder groups) and with other VALUE verticals (Creation and Enablement) to identify high-impact MDM expansion opportunities and benefits.
  • Support the MDM VT Captain in building and maintaining the overall global MDM roadmap, ensuring alignment to business objectives while leveraging scalable platforms and data solutions.
  • Partner effectively with other Pods and Value Teams within and outside of GrowthX Hub, e.g. CRM teams given the very close data alignment with mastered customer reference data.
  • Partner effectively with DigitalX to continuously deliver as per strategic business objectives.
  • Engage in the quarterly planning cycle (QPC), assist in demand management and expectations setting.
  • Area specific Responsibility & Accountability:
  • Identify and lead strategic initiatives to further mature the MDM scope, landscape, and the global MDM platform and its capabilities. Transition projects to BAU operations, define and report on KPIs, and establish frameworks to measure value delivered.
  • Drive seamless integration of master data (Customer, Product, and additional domains in the future) across relevant upstream and downstream applications. Ensure ongoing management of data integration compliant with multinational regulations, working closely with Compliance and Legal.
  • Support the effective execution of global Master Data Operations by contributing to core data quality oversight, crossfunctional issue resolution, and continuous enhancement of stewardship and operating model practices across Customer and Product MDM.
  • Act as a connector across business and technical teams (including third party suppliers), facilitating communication, alignment, and joint problem-solving.
  • Partner with local affiliates, regional, and global teams to design, implement, and enhance end-to-end data operating models and stewardship processes, including requirements gathering, testing, validation, and deployment.
  • Manage vendor teams to ensure data is processed and transformed according to business rules and strict quality standards.
  • Exercise sound judgment in environments with evolving requirements or distributed ownership, balancing global standards with local business needs to enable timely, compliant, and valuedriven decisions.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and participate in initiatives to improve team effectiveness and efficiency
  • Develop lifecycle management frameworks (source, analyze and verify) for master data, ensuring adherence to rules throughout collection, storage, and use.
  • Act as one of the global business contacts for MDM processes, supporting the maintenance and stewardship of the global MDM platform.
  • Promote best practices in MDM and collaborate with data governance and DX teams to ensure compliance with data quality, privacy, and security standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer/Data Science, Information Systems, or STEM field)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in enterprise MDM, Business Rule Engine tools, or CRM in a global setting
  • A deep understanding of the core capabilities and principles within master data management and hands-on experience with multiple of the following: data quality and governance, business operations and data stewardship
  • Experience supporting global data operations in a complex, multi¢regional environment, with the ability to synthesize process, quality, and governance requirements into scalable, user¢friendly practices and documentation.
  • Experience interacting in teams across multiple countries in a business operations environment and partnership with IT and third-party suppliers.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional and complex initiatives and engaging business stakeholders at all levels.
  • Impactful, credible with senior stakeholders, able to effectively influence and deliver results through influence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer or Information/Data Science, Information Systems, or STEM field
  • Hands-on experience with Veeva Network or other MDM capabilities.
  • Expert in Agile methodology execution and delivery
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (e.g. Databricks), data as a product solutions and data mesh concepts.
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Qlik and Tableau for data visualization and business insights.
  • Exposure to AI (GenAI, LLMs, Machine Learning, etc.), BI/Analytics concepts, DaaS/SaaS/PaaS and new cloud solutions catered to data management.
  • Experience in pharma or other highly regulated environment.
