About Darsel

Darsel is a global education technology nonprofit on a mission to transform math learning for students in low- and middle-income countries. We build AI-powered learning tools (such as WhatsApp chatbots) that help students learn math. We also partner with governments and school systems to reach the world's most vulnerable learners.

Since launching from Harvard and Stanford in 2021, Darsel has helped 350,000+ students learn math through government partnerships in Jordan, India, and Nigeria. We're on track to meaningfully impact millions of students in the coming years.

We are rapidly growing our content to include more curricula and more grade levels, with a focus on quality and impact.

About the Role

You will work closely with a small team of math content designers and software engineers, with the goal of expanding and improving Darsel's library of math learning content (e.g., questions, hints, explanations, visuals). You will design, test, and improve math content and support other content projects related to skill identification and curriculum alignment, often with help from AI tools.

Job Responsibilities:

Design and prepare high-quality curriculum-aligned K-12 math content, including text and visual content, in both English and Punjabi

Break down complex math topics into simpler learning progressions and contribute to building a hierarchical math skills framework

Revise learning material to ensure linguistic perfection and alignment with local context and curriculum

Collect and implement feedback from teachers

Collaborate with the technology team to support content digitization efforts

Test, use, and adapt generative AI tools to improve content processes

Research, test, and recommend ideas to help improve our content development processes

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in math, education, or a related field

Math teaching or tutoring experience

Excellent communication skills, with full professional fluency in written English and Punjabi

Fast learner with a strong growth mindset and a willingness to learn

High attention to detail

Strong ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment

Reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to manage tasks and requirements while working remotely

Preferred:

Graduate degree in math education or a Teaching Diploma in Education

Formal experience as a mathematics teacher in a K-12 school environment

Basic programming skills and familiarity with Python

Experience writing educational content in both English and Punjabi (especially problem sets and explanations)
