Job Description
Mechanical engineer with experience into design and engineering of Bulk material handling systems to work on mining projects.
Job includes design and mechanical engineering of large-scale belt conveyors, crushing and screening stations, and bulk material storage and reclaim. The successful candidate will have experience in the design, sizing, and selection of this equipment along with knowledge of material properties required to engineer storage and transport solutions. This position will require an understanding of crushing and screening mechanisms and advanced knowledge of conveyor design.
Role And Responsibilities
- Preparation of technical specification, design basis for material handling systems.
- Develop conceptual design and layout of material handling systems.
- Develop material handling crushing and screening facilities - select and size equipment.
- Size storage capacity and engineer stockpile, bin, and reclaim configurations.
- Sizing & design calculations for belt conveyors.
- Preparation of mechanical datasheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluation, technical clarifications, purchase requisitions.
- Technical recommendation & review of vendor drawings & documents
- Carry out detailed engineering and design activities for material handling equipment / systems.
- Review and manage 2D / 3D work of designers.
- Interface with other disciplines, clients, vendors.
Basic Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a reputed institution.
- Five or more years of experience in the area of bulk material handling engineering and design.
- Experience on high-capacity conveyors for Copper and /or Iron ore.
- Advanced knowledge of belt conveyor related standards and industry practices (CEMA, ISO, DIN)
- Conversant with drafting software like AutoCAD / MicroStation and 3D model software like Solid works / SP3D.
- Knowledge of belt conveyor design software such as Sidewinder and Newton
- Experience with comminution circuits and primary crushing
- Familiar with Stockyard equipment like stackers, reclaimer.

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
