Role Summary:

The Master and Reference Data Specialist will report to the Master and Reference Data Lead, under the Chief Data Officer and will lead the implementation of the Master and Reference Data standards across Mizuho Americas.

This role will be accountable partaking and assisting in development of the master and reference data strategy, with a special emphasis on mastering customer referential data first, and execution to meet the policy requirements.

The candidate will be playing an essential role as part of Master and Reference Data resources as well as provide governance and oversight by working closely with business units and functions data stakeholders, including the Stewardship function through a federated model.

The role requires the candidate to act as an influential thought contributor bringing in external perspectives on the execution to drive adoption.

The role will develop and maintain enterprise master and reference data products and facilitate their consumption across the enterprise. The role will develop and maintain enterprise master and reference data products and facilitate their consumption across the enterprise.

The role is also requiring understanding and some experience in client onboarding process.

Responsibilities:

Master / Reference Data Management

  • Define, prioritize, and clean master and reference data sets in-line with standards.
  • Monitor use of master data to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Support consumers of master data and ensure all data requirements are met.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of master and reference data management processes and changes for reference and compliance purposes.

Data Dictionary

  • Review and ensure business definitions and metadata for master and reference data are up-to-date and available.
  • Participate in managing master and reference data content in the business glossary.

Data Quality

  • Maintain overall integrity and consistency of master and reference data, by coordinating with business units and functions.
  • Manage duplications and inconsistencies in master data records.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives related to master and reference data, with special emphasis to client/Legal Entity data and client onboarding.

Minimum qualification and skills:

Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in Data Management/IT or relevant function, with industry knowledge
  • Proven experience in master data management, data governance, data quality assurance and client onboarding/KYC

Skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication/persuasion skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Certification in Master Data Management (MDM) or related fields is a plus
