Your Role And Responsibilities

Our Marketing, Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility (MCC) team tells this story and is responsible for positioning IBM in the market. We define and optimize IBM's brand, capture the market's attention, and articulate our point of view for clients, partners, the media, and even other IBMers. As part of our team, you'll be surrounded by bright minds and keen collaborators always willing to help and be helped as you apply passion to work that will compel our audience to choose IBM's products and services.

As a Marketing Data Scientist & Data Analytics Intern, you'll work collaboratively, as part of a team, on a project that addresses a strategic IBM Marketing business challenge. This is a highly visible intern program with leadership exposure throughout the summer. In addition to the project, the internship includes learning and networking opportunities.

This role supports our Marketing Data Science and analytics team, which is responsible for building intelligence that powers and orchestrates performance across tactics and buyer groups. As an intern, you will get exposure to all aspects of marketing, from early-stage audience targeting via paid media investment, to capturing demand through our web presence, to response to lead management and sales analytics.

This Role Will Involve

  • Develop scalable analytical solutions that provide data-driven and optimization insights
  • Work with large, complex data sets and extract knowledge or insights to solve complex, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed
  • Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes industry research, data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations
  • Develop, design and present data-driven optimization recommendations via dashboards, reports, and analyses
  • Communicate insights to team members, other marketing groups, and IBM leadership.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Currently pursuing a post graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, data science, computer science, applied mathematics / statistics, mathematical computing, operations research) or currently pursuing MBA/M.Tech having undergraduate degree in quantitative disciplines as mentioned above
  • Experience using technology to work with datasets such as Scripting, Python, Statistical software (SPSS, SAS, R, or similar)
  • Data Visualization Tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc)
  • Fluent in English; strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Knowledge of and experience in working with large data sets and applying data mining / predictive modelling techniques to extract meaningful insights
  • Basic knowledge of marketing or related field
  • Passion for advancements in Data Science and Predictive Analytics
  • A strategic, consultative, data-driven mindset
