This role is part of Alcons Information Technology function, a team delivering cutting-edge technology solutions to Alcon associates and customers. The Sr. Associate I, Software Engineering is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions, with a focus on Power BI, data analytics, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role also ensures compliance with GxP regulations and contributes to continuous improvement in software and data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Design and Development
- Design and implement software solutions based on business and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports, translating business needs into data models and visual insights.
- Build Power BI paginated reports using Report Builder for pixel-perfect, printable reporting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software and data issues promptly.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high-quality code standards.
Data Analytics and Modeling
- Expertise in DAX, Power Query, and SQL for data modeling and transformation.
- Utilize current processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
- Optimize large datasets and ensure high performance for enterprise reporting.
- Translate business needs into visual insights and actionable data models.
Project Management and Collaboration
- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to implement data-driven solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, provide input to design recommendations, and incorporate security requirements.
- Document application specifications (URS, FS, SDS) and translate requirements into functional software modules.
- Follow Agile Project Life Cycle methodology in all planning and execution steps.
DevOps and Version Control
- Manage Power BI projects and artifacts using Git repositories.
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for Power BI deployment.
- Oversee deployment and release management, including production acceptance review and signoff.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
- Adhere to GxP regulations by following SOPs, maintaining documentation, and ensuring rigorous quality control.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data management and analytics capabilities.
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in data analytics and Power BI development.
- Knowledge of the Pharma industry, medical devices, and GxP validation preferred.
- Experience with SQL, Python, GitHub, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience in SDLC and developing high-quality technical solutions.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, think creatively, and deliver intuitive solutions.
- Experience handling large volumes of data and knowledge of version/revision control practices.
