Job Description

The Managing Director for Chief Product Office (IS) India is responsible for leading, managing and developing various teams pertaining to Product Strategy, Product Advocacy, Product Content Strategy & warehousing, Regulatory Intelligence & Product related governance including Project Management. The role reports directly into the Chief-of-Staff of the Global Chief Product Office (CPO) within Investment Services (IS), while being functionally accountable to the India Head of Investment Services Product and Commercial Office & GCF.

The IS CPO is a specialized group responsible for management, development and commercialization of products and solutions for Investment Services. The role will have local leadership oversight of all the functions in India aligned to IS Product Office.

The role will be based in Hyderabad or Mumbai.

Product Strategy

  • Lead structured market analysis to identify structural trends, demand shifts, and emerging opportunities, informing strategic product decisions across segments, geographies, and asset classes.
  • Lead product‑focused competitive intelligence to assess peer offerings, capabilities, and gap assessments, translating insights into clear implications for product strategy and positioning.
  • Embed competitive assessments into product roadmaps, investment decisions, and client messaging, ensuring the firm maintains differentiation and anticipates competitor moves.
  • Lead and support the development of product business cases underpinned by rigorous, scenario‑based financial modeling.
  • Partner with Finance, Commercial Office, Product, and Regional leadership to deliver actionable recommendations and investment insights

Product Advocacy


  • Translate market, regulatory, and client insights into clear product‑led advocacy positions that influence client dialogue, industry forums, and regulatory engagement.
  • Align advocacy priorities with commercial strategy, product roadmaps, and go‑to‑market objectives, ensuring external positions reinforce business outcomes.
  • Establish execution governance to coordinate advocacy efforts across product areas and solution sets by tracking progress, impact, and outcomes of advocacy initiatives, ensuring the right feedback to inform product development teams for strategic prioritization.
  • Oversee the production of strategic, product‑led research and regulatory insights covering core asset‑servicing domains (e.g., custody, fund administration, investor services, market infrastructure), translating market and policy developments into clear product positioning and client‑relevant outcomes.
  • Grow and oversee execution of structured client engagement mechanisms, including Office Hours and monthly client newsletter, Product Bulletin, to communicate product-aligned thought leadership and insights.
  • Oversee development of product roadmaps, consolidated Product Office roadmap and key client positioning materials outlining client benefits and outcomes
  • Define success metrics for product advocacy, tracking client engagement, influence, and commercial impact to continuously refine messaging and priorities.
  • Ensure consistent product narratives and positioning across thought leadership, client materials, roadmaps, and advocacy channels.

Product Content Strategy & Warehousing


  • Drive strategy and execution for a single, enterprise platform that houses product demos, product strategy and roadmaps, client solutioning assets, and thought leadership assets including research-based collaterals and Office Hours.
  • Ensure the platform supports multiple use cases: client engagement, sales enablement, executive briefings, and regulatory dialogue.
  • Design the operating model governing content creation, curation, version control, access rights, and lifecycle management.
  • Establish standardized ways of working across the team to drive consistency, efficiency, and scalable delivery.
  • Partner across Product, Commercial Office, Global Delivery, Technology, Legal, and Compliance to automate repeatable activities and embed re‑engineered processes into sustainable operating models.

Regulatory Intelligence


  • Define, standardize, and publish a model for regulatory horizon scanning that improves consistency, efficiency, and cost discipline across regions and product areas including a feedback loop.
  • Assess vendor capabilities with regards to use cases across the CPO in coordination with Enterprise Compliance, Public Policy and Legal to eliminate duplication, streamline workflows, and reduce overall cost of regulatory intelligence production.
  • Establish clear ownership, escalation paths, and decision rights to ensure timely, actionable regulatory insight at scale.
  • Partner across Product, Commercial Office, Global Delivery, Technology, Legal, and Compliance to automate repeatable activities and embed re‑engineered processes into sustainable operating models.

Process Re-engineering and Project Management


  • Lead Product Office led process re‑engineering initiatives to simplify, standardize, and streamline workflows. Identify inefficiencies, duplication, and manual handoffs; redesign processes to improve speed, scalability, and cost efficiency while maintaining quality and control.
  • Oversee governance and execution of executive forums for different initiatives for the Product Office with clear agendas, decision frameworks, and follow‑through, ensuring alignment, transparency, and accountability on product strategy, investments, and key initiatives.
  • Oversee governance and execution for new business and product approvals, ensuring timely decision‑making, risk alignment, and effective coordination across Product Office, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations.
  • Ensure all client‑facing materials adhere to regulatory, legal, and reputational standards.
  • Establish clear governance for approvals, escalation, and content retirement.

Team and Stakeholder Management


  • Lead effectively in a global, matrixed environment, influencing across different business units and representing the team's work and priorities at senior forums and executive committees
  • Lead a high‑performing, multidisciplinary team of SMEs with responsibility for their overall development
  • Attract, retain, develop and mentor senior talent capable of operating with autonomy, judgment, and executive‑level credibility
  • Ensure the team partners seamlessly with adjacent functions, avoiding duplication and clarifying ownership boundaries

The candidate for this role will possess and/or be able to demonstrate

  • A seasoned leader with extensive product experience with the demonstrated capacity for proactive strategic leadership
  • The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker capable of developing an effective vision to facilitate the product organization's growth objective. S/he will have the financial acumen, global perspective, insightful judgment and appropriate risk appetite to develop a vision for the teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, management, and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrate skills in problem assessment and resolution as well as collaborative problem solving in a complex setting
  • Possess excellent communications skills within organization and with clients.
  • Ensure deep understanding of competitive landscape and client needs by segment.
  • High quality and proven experience and track record in roles including strategic planning and product management in support of revenue generation
  • Understands State Street's business and client base, while also being aware of global technology trends
  • An ability to think strategically, managing complexity, change and multiple priorities
  • Candidate should possess over 18 years or total work experience and 10+ years of relevant business/product experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
