The University of Aberdeen will open its Mumbai campus in Powai in September 2026. At launch, it will offer six programmes: four-year undergraduate degrees in Computing, Data Science, Economics, and Business Management, along with one-year master's degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Business Administration.

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Manager/Senior Manager – Finance to support financial operations, reporting, budgeting, and compliance for the India campus. This role will ensure accuracy, efficiency, and governance in financial processes while supporting the Director – Finance & Compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Accounting

  • Manage day‑to‑day finance operations including bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, and reconciliations.
  • Oversee payroll inputs, vendor payments, and expense claim processes.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date accounting records aligned with university policies.

Budgeting & Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly MIS reports, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
  • Support internal and external audit processes with timely documentation.

Compliance & Regulatory Support

  • Ensure compliance with Indian financial regulations including GST, TDS, Income Tax, vendor compliance checks, and statutory filings.
  • Maintain documentation required for regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Support implementation of internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Support procurement processes including vendor onboarding, quotation analysis, and contract compliance.
  • Ensure timely vendor payments, documentation accuracy, and adherence to internal control standards.

Coordination & Stakeholder Support

  • Liaise with internal teams including HR, Administration, and Academic departments for financial requirements.
  • Support global finance teams with reporting, consolidation, and financial coordination aligned with UK standards.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Work with the finance leadership to implement ERP and financial systems.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows and improve transparency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field, with relevant finance certifications (CA/CMA/CPA/CFA)
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial operations.
  • Experience in higher education, service organisations, or multinational environments preferred.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes and statutory compliance.
  • Skilled in financial analysis, MIS reporting, and variance interpretation.
  • High accuracy in documentation and financial controls.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, accounting software, and MS Excel.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proactive approach to resolving financial discrepancies and operational challenges.
