Role Objective: Ensure the laboratory is always Science Ready by maintaining reliability and readiness of all laboratory instruments, equipment and consumable supplies
Accountabilities
To the Director of Global R&D Laboratory Operations and GV1 scientific staff
- Support maintenance and upkeep of lab instruments and equipment
- Maintain communications with laboratory stakeholders, key suppliers and other Amgen support functions
- Identification and execution of iterative process improvements
- Support the execution of Global Research strategies and timelines
Responsibilities
Responsible to provide operational support to the R&D Laboratory, including:
- Provide basic support for lab Instrument & equipment
- Liaison to laboratory staff & suppliers
- Schedule and track lab instrument and equipment preventative and corrective maintenance
- Provide onsite supplier service support
- Manage lab support services contract renewals
- Oversee Lab Asset Lifecycle management
- Manage lab consumables inventory
- Monitor budget and invoice approvals for lab instrument/equipment service & consumables
- Manage pipette calibration intervals
- Support solvent, gas, dry ice and waste management in collaboration with EHSS
- Flag facility issues to Facility Manager and ensure repair
- Communication of Amgen decisions and best practices to suppliers and key client groups
- Escalation of project/functional issues
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple high priority projects
- Perform other duties as assigned, including ad hoc projects
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Life Sciences, Chemistry or related field and 4 years of pharma-related lab operations
- OR Associate degree/Technical certification in a relevant field and 6 years of pharma-related lab operations
- Fluency in English, written and oral communication
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with R&D activities and analytical instruments in biopharmaceutical industry
- Solid understanding of the R&D Facility and Amgen standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Experience with Laboratory Management or R&D Operations
- Managerial experience directly managing people and/or leading teams, projects, programs ordirecting the allocation of resources
- Experience in organizational and administrative tasks in the pharmaceutical industry
- Proficient user of Office Programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook
- Evidence of strong data analytics skills
- Flexibility to work on any type of assignment and prioritize accordingly
