Job Description

Job Overview: Manager of Quality, Governance, and Exams

The Manager oversees the development and implementation of quality frameworks, ensures the institution remains compliant with regulatory bodies and leads the operational delivery of high-stakes assessments.

1. Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance (QA) & Enhancement

  • Framework Management: Develop and maintain the Institutional Quality Handbook, ensuring all policies align with national standards.
  • Program Validation: Lead the approval process for new courses and the periodic review of existing ones to ensure academic rigor.
  • Student Voice: Oversee student feedback mechanisms (surveys, focus groups) and ensure the You Said, We Did cycle is completed.
  • Annual Monitoring: Manage the annual program monitoring process, identifying trends in student achievement and progression.

Academic Governance

  • Committee Leadership: Serve as the secretary or lead advisor to the Academic Board and sub-committees (e.g., Learning & Teaching Committee).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Act as the primary point of contact for external regulatory bodies and lead on statutory returns.
  • Policy Development: Draft, review, and implement academic regulations, including codes of practice on academic integrity and appeals.
  • Audit Readiness: Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure the institution is inspection-ready at all times.

Examinations & Assessment

  • Operational Oversight: Manage the end-to-end examination cycle, from paper moderation and scheduling to the secure storage of scripts.
  • Integrity & Misconduct: Lead the investigation process for academic malpractice (plagiarism, exam cheating) and chair disciplinary panels.
  • Board of Examiners: Manage the Exam Board process, ensuring that marks are calculated accurately and awards are conferred according to regulations.
  • External Examiners: Oversee the recruitment, briefing, and reporting process for External Examiners to ensure impartial moderation

Professional Experience Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Strategic Quality Management: Extensive experience in developing and implementing Quality Assurance (QA) Frameworks within a Higher Education setting, specifically tailored to handle the nuances of creative or studio-based curricula.
  • Academic Governance Leadership: Proven track record of managing Academic Committees and Boards, ensuring that all institutional decisions are compliant with statutory regulations and internal bylaws.
  • Assessment & Examination Oversight: Deep experience in managing the end-to-end Examination Cycle, including the moderation of creative portfolios, jury-based assessments, and the secure management of results.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrated success in leading an institution through Accreditation and Audits (e.g., UGC, NAAC, or international equivalencies), maintaining a high level of audit-readiness.
  • Process Automation: Experience in integrating Technology/LMS into academic processes to automate quality checks, feedback loops, and student progression tracking.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to act as a liaison between academic faculty and administrative leadership, ensuring that governance protocols support—rather than hinder—creative pedagogy.

2. Skills & Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree in Education Management, Public Policy, Law, or a related field (MCA/MBA with an interest in academic operations is highly valued).

Experience

  • 7+ years in Higher Education Administration, including demonstrated experience in Quality Assurance (QA), academic audit, or regulatory compliance. At least 2 years must be in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Technical

  • Advanced proficiency in Student Information Systems (SIS) and LMS; deep understanding of Data Protection (GDPR/Digital Personal Data Protection) and academic record-keeping.

Communication

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex regulatory jargon and academic policies into clear, visual, and actionable guidance for creative faculty and students.

Domain Knowledge

  • Familiarity with the National Credit Framework (NCF) or similar global credit systems, particularly as they apply to studio-based and experiential learning.
