Job Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned finance professional with specialized knowledge in insurance and broker accounting, particularly within the Lloyd's market. The role involves managing complex accounting processes, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and audit support, while ensuring compliance and operational excellence across multi-currency environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate deep expertise in the insurance industry, including the full lifecycle of insurers, brokers, and MGAs.
- Understand and apply accounting for key insurance concepts: Premiums, Claims, UEPR, DAC, CASE, IBNR reserves.
- Possess basic knowledge of treaty types such as Facultative, Quota Share, Proportional, and Non-Proportional.
- Navigate broker business processes, especially within the Lloyd's market, including IBA, Bureau vs Non-Bureau, and tools like Eclipse, Acturis, and the Stamp Decision Tool.
- Work with Lloyd's-specific documentation and systems: MRC, EDI, LPOS, IMR, UMR, CASA, LPAN, XIS, XCS.
- Perform client and insurer statement reconciliations and prepare journal entries (intercompany, survey fees, accruals).
- Manage expense accounting, trend analysis, and FX adjustments for multi-currency transactions.
- Lead month-end close activities and perform sub-ledger vs ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor and analyze accounting records, investigate outstanding items, and produce financial reports under US GAAP/STAT.
- Support management, regulatory, and statutory reporting, including UK broker regulatory reporting and tax compliance (IPT, FET).
- Liaise with stakeholders, support audits, and maintain accurate process documentation.
- Ensure all KPIs and SLAs are met, while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving, communication, and advanced Excel skills, and work independently while supporting leadership.
Must haves:
- 4-7 years of strong insurance and broker accounting knowledge, especially Lloyd's market.
- 8+ years of experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting (UK, US GAAP/STAT) and tax compliance.
- Proficient in Excel, financial analysis, and multi-currency transactions.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
