Description

Amazon's transportation powers small parcel delivery through various tier-1 services. These systems manage and enable on-boarding new business use cases and 3P carriers onto Amazon's transportation systems. We have built a highly respected software engineering team which is focused on solving complex problems on behalf of the customers (carriers, logistic services) and work on simplifying, automating the onboarding process at scale.

Your solutions will impact our customers directly! This job requires you to constantly hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks will define your success. High Impact production issues often require coordination between multiple Development, Operations and IT Support groups, so you get to experience a breadth of impact with various groups.

Primary responsibilities include managing team which will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production issues, developing monitoring solutions, performing software maintenance and carrier configurations and resolving technical challenges. Responsibilities also include working alongside development on Amazon Corporate and Divisional Software projects, updating/enhancing our current software, automation of support processes and documentation of our systems.

The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.

Key job responsibilities
1. Work with SDE, program teams, carriers, carrier POCs and deliver on planned programs
2. Own and simplify processes for deploying configurations
3. Drive operational excellence by handling tickets, identifying automation opportunities
4. Manage a team of 6 to 10 PA engineers

About the team
One of the key aspects of our Transportation network is our 3P carrier partners, who pick up and deliver packages to our customers on behalf of Amazon, ensuring we consistently meet the promises we make. Today, we have more than 300 3P carriers integrated into our systems, and this number continues to grow at a rate of over 30% year-over-year.
Our vision for Carrier Logistics is to build a unified, scalable, and self-service ecosystem that enables 3P carriers to seamlessly onboard, integrate, and operate with Amazon. We aim to eliminate operational friction by providing standardized workflows, real-time visibility, and intelligent automation across all carrier interactions. This will empower carriers to independently manage their lifecycle while allowing Amazon to scale efficiently, improve reliability, and protect the customer promise.

Basic Qualifications

- 4+ years of team management experience
- 3+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or other related discipline
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent, or experience with data structure implementation, basic algorithm development, and/or object-oriented design principles
- Experience in problem solving and delivering results
- Experience using English communication skills, both written and verbal, to foster seamless interaction with stakeholders at all levels

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with multiple stakeholders at various levels and in different locales to drive alignment
- Experience with AWS products and services
- Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Experience debugging and systems analysis to identify and quickly resolve or mitigate issues
- Experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting or problem solving
- Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment
