Inviting applications for the role of Manager, Property Accounting
Reports to: Controller/Senior Controller
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the accounting records including month-end close procedures, preparing & posting journal entries, reconciliations, and administrative matters for assigned projects and business entities and leads a team of property accountants, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and collaborates closely with property management, leasing, and senior leadership to support business goals
Responsibilities
.Collaborate with Client personnel (e.g., Controller, Property/Project Manager, Accountants) to ensure accurate accounting, financial reporting, and construction draws
.Preparation of 4 - 6 buildings/properties in relation to Office, Industrial, Mixed use or Residential financials end to end and timely delivery it to stakeholders on a monthly basis
.Assist Property Management team with A/R Analysis for collection efforts
.Record journal entries to the general ledger and ensure records are kept in compliance with GAAP or other basis of accounting
.Maintain reporting and draw calendars for Property/Project
.Perform month-end close procedures including preparation and/or review of account reconciliations
.Process recurring and one-off revenue billings diligently record cash receipts
.Prepare Workpaper, Property/Development Management fees and Construction Management fees ensuring proper calculation, invoicing and recording on a timely basis
.Maintain fixed assets including recording/setting up new fixed assets, recording monthly amortization/depreciation
.Prepare lender reserve/escrow/draw requests (TI, Commissions, Capital)
.Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules working closely with Property/Project Manager to ensure accuracy
.Prepare information for financial statements and internal audits, as needed, Assist Accounting Team with projects, ad hoc reports and analysis as requested
.Collaborate with property managers and stakeholders with annual property budget. Enter approved budget into applicable accounting system
.Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties
.Lead or assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
.Oversee CAM (Common Area Maintenance), real estate tax, and insurance reconciliations and tenant billing processes
.Partner with property managers, asset managers, leasing, and development teams to support property operations and strategic decisions
.Maintain adequate internal controls through documented policies and procedures to ensure accounting record integrity and reliability and asset preservation
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
.Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university
.Relevant years of accounting experience Commercial/Residential real estate or property management experience preferred. In addition, at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
.Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
.Excellent organizational skills, team and time management skills.
.Excellent communication and collaboration skills
.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
.Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments
