Job Requirements

Job Title: Manager - ESG

Department/Function: ESG

Job Purpose

To support the ESG team in implementing the Bank's ESG and climate strategy, with a primary focus on climate and sustainable finance, while contributing to broader ESG initiatives, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and operational/administrative needs of the ESG team. The role reports directly to the Lead - ESG, who majorly drives ESG strategy integration, climate risk oversight, and sustainable finance initiatives across the Bank.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Climate & Sustainable Finance
  • Support development and implementation of sustainable finance frameworks, climate policies, and sector guidelines.
  • Assist in integrating climate risk and ESG considerations into credit appraisal, due diligence, and portfolio assessments.
  • Assist in periodically analysing & monitoring the green/social portfolio, identify opportunities in green/social finance and liaison with business teams to increase the green/social book.
  • Build and implement steps to maintain global partnerships/memberships related to Sustainable Finance and Climate (e.g. PCAF, SBTi)
  • ESG Strategy & Integration
  • Assist the team in executing the Bank's ESG strategy, aligned with regulatory developments and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with business, risk, compliance, and operations to embed ESG considerations in decision-making.
  • Support assessments of ESG risks, opportunities, and material issues across portfolios.
  • Reporting & Disclosures
  • Support preparation of ESG reports, dashboards, and regulatory submissions (e.g., BRSR/BRSR Core, climate-related disclosures).
  • Support data collection, validation, and maintenance of internal ESG datasets and metrics.
  • Assist with documentation for internal committees, senior leadership updates, and external stakeholder reporting.
  • Employee Engagement & Communications
  • Work with the team to roll out monthly ESG engagement initiatives, employee awareness campaigns, and content development.
  • Assist in organizing workshops, awareness sessions, and internal ESG events.
  • Stakeholder & Cross Functional Coordination
  • Represent the ESG team in cross-functional discussions as guided by the senior members of the team.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, assurance partners, or technical experts, as required.
  • General ESG Support & Team Administration
  • Provide support across other ESG areas such as social impact, governance, environmental performance, and compliance tracking.
  • Manage team-level administrative responsibilities such as documentation, vendor onboarding, invoice closures, scheduling, meeting coordination, follow-ups, presentations, and maintaining trackers.
  • Support the Lead - ESG in day-to-day execution and team operations.
  • Strong understanding of ESG concepts, climate risk, and sustainable finance.
  • Good analytical, research, and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, including both technical ESG work and operational tasks.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data dashboards is a plus.

Educational Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Sustainability/ Environmental Studies/ Finance/ Economics or a related discipline.
  • Certifications regarding Indian and global ESG/climate frameworks is desirable.

Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience
