This is an onsite position, 5 days/week, in the Vadodara office working the DAY SHIFT. Remote applicants will not be considered. Hours are 11.00 AM to 08.00 PM IST.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Delivery & Execution
- Own execution of quarterly engineering priorities in partnership with Product.
- Work with Product owners and scrum teams to ensure roadmap objectives are actionable and in line with delivery plans.
- Drive predictability and accountability across teams.
- Proactively identify delivery risks and escalate early with proposed solutions.
- Ensure alignment to Enterprise Engineering standards and global direction.
Metrics Accountability
Accountable For Tracking And Improving
- Quarterly commitment delivery performance
- Deployment success rates
- Defect escape rates
- Production stability (in collaboration with DevOps/ITOps)
- Team execution efficiency
Technical Leadership & Code Governance
- Provide strong technical oversight across .NET and Java systems and integration services.
- Review and approve merge requests (MRs) with full understanding of architecture, quality, and security implications.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex issues.
- Be hands-on when necessary to unblock delivery or resolve high-severity issues.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in secure development, testing, and documentation.
- Establish and enforce clear engineering quality standards, including definition of done, automated testing expectations, and disciplined code review practices.
Architecture Collaboration & Accountability
- Provide constructive architectural feedback; once decisions are finalized, ensure disciplined implementation and prevent architectural drift.
- Represent the India engineering perspective in architectural reviews.
- Ensure implementation aligns with defined architecture standards.
- Architecture ownership resides with Enterprise Architecture; implementation discipline resides with this role.
Security & PHI Responsibility
- Ensure all development aligns with PHI protection requirements and healthcare compliance standards.
- Maintain awareness of security vulnerabilities and ensure prompt remediation.
- Work with security and DevOps to proactively identify risks.
- Coach teams on secure coding practices.
- Drive a culture of compliance without creating delivery paralysis.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with QA leadership to improve quality metrics.
- Work closely with DevOps to improve CI/CD maturity and release reliability.
- Partner with IT Operations to strengthen production support workflows.
- Contribute to defining and improving the support structure across Engineering, DevOps, and Operations.
- Partner with Scrum Masters to ensure disciplined agile execution.
- Work with HR on talent development and performance management.
No 24/7 operational ownership is expected; however, the role must ensure teams respond appropriately during their expected business hours and that escalation paths are clear.
People Leadership & Culture
- Lead and develop Engineering Managers.
- Build an inclusive, accountable, high-performance team culture.
- Identify and correct unproductive habits or cultural drift.
- Coach managers and engineers to maximize productivity within sustainable working hours.
- Approve time off and manage capacity planning.
- Participate directly in hiring decisions and final candidate evaluations.
- Drive internal talent promotion recommendations.
- Develop succession depth within the organization.
Communication & Representation
- Serve as a visible, in-office leader.
- Represent Enterprise Engineering leadership in India.
- Maintain excellent upward communication with clear, concise escalation.
- Maintain transparent downward communication to ensure alignment.
- Build strong professional relationships across functions.
- Support workflows and escalations.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced English level.
- Software engineering experience.
- 5+ years leading engineering teams, including managing managers.
- Strong background in:
- .NET / C#
- Java
- RESTful APIs and integration design
- CI/CD and modern DevOps practices
- Preferred experience with:
- Spring Boot
- React.js
- MongoDB
- Oracle
- MySQL
- Experience reviewing and approving production code at a senior level.
- Experience working in healthcare or other PHI-regulated environments.
- Demonstrated ability to improve delivery performance and team discipline.
- Strong executive-level communication skills.
