Manager, Engineering

We are seeking a Manager, Engineering to join our NIOS Engineering team in Bangalore, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering. In this role, you will contribute to building customer-facing UI solutions that serve as a single pane of glass for NIOS customers. You will play a key part in the NIOS SaaS Convergence journey, delivering new features and enhancements that create value for our customers. This position involves close collaboration with backend services running on a highly scalable, on-prem and cloud-integrated platform. You will have end-to-end ownership of features, from requirements gathering through deployment, ensuring quality and timely delivery. The ideal candidate is a results-driven problem solver and strong collaborator, capable of working independently while driving technical excellence and team success

What you'll do:

  • As a Frontend Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of frontend developers to deliver high-quality features and enhancements
  • You will play a critical role in guiding the technical direction, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget
  • Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend engineers, to create exceptional user experiences and drive the continuous improvement of our frontend development processes
  • Drive recruitment efforts for engineering roles, focusing on technical excellence and cultural fit
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on Angular best practices and modern front-end development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, UX, Backend) to define and deliver scalable solutions
  • Establish coding standards, review code, and ensure adherence to best practices
  • Ensure the team consistently produces high-quality code and applications by conducting code reviews, promoting automated testing, and implementing continuous integration and deployment process
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and optimization opportunities to ensure our web applications are fast, efficient, and scalable
  • Collaborate with designers and product managers to create intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing user interfaces that align with user needs and business objective
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, frontend technologies, and best practices, and drive innovation within the team to enhance development processes and user experience
  • Work closely with backend engineering teams, QA teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and end-to-end delivery of features and project
  • Act as an escalation point for resolving technical issues and challenges, providing hands-on support to the team when necessary
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify areas for improvement to enhance the overall effectiveness of the frontend team

What you'll bring:

  • 10 plus years of experience in the development of amazing UIs with JavaScript and Angular Single-SPA framework technologies; atleast 3 years of managerial experience by leading team of 5 or more engineers
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in Angular (latest versions)
  • Strong knowledge of TypeScript, RxJS, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with state management libraries (e.g., NgRx)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and front-end build tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience with frontend component libraries like Material-UI and Bootstrap
  • Good understanding of accessibility best practices like VPAT and WCAG
  • Solid coding practices, including writing technical specifications, peer code review, and unit testing
  • Hands-on experience with UI integration with RESTful Web Services
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and deep understanding of code versioning tools such as Git and bug tracking tools like Jira
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, CE or EE is required, master's degree preferred
