Responsibilities
The Manager - Electrical will be responsible for comprehensive oversight and management of the electrical systems and infrastructure at the thermal power plant. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Electrical Systems Management.
- Lead the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, motors, and control systems.
- Ensure optimal functionality and availability of electrical systems to support uninterrupted power generation. - Monitor electrical load distribution and system efficiency to optimize performance.
- Project Management and Execution - Plan, coordinate, and execute electrical projects including system upgrades, new installations, and preventive maintenance activities in adherence with timelines and budgets.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical components in ongoing projects.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans to minimize operational disruptions.
- **Safety and Compliance:** - Enforce strict compliance with electrical safety standards, statutory regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, emergency response plans, and training programs for the electrical team.
- Lead root cause analysis for electrical failures and accidents, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- **Team Leadership and Development:** - Mentor and develop a skilled team of electrical engineers and technicians fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Conduct performance appraisals, identify skill gaps, and facilitate appropriate training and development initiatives.

- **Budgeting and Resource Management:** - Prepare and manage the electrical department's budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Optimize inventory management for electrical spares and materials to reduce downtime and operational costs.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts to secure quality electrical services and supplies.
- **Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:** - Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on electrical system status, project progress, safety audits, and compliance metrics. - Drive initiatives to incorporate new technologies and sustainable practices in electrical operations.
- **Continuous Improvement:** - Champion the adoption of best practices, modern technologies, and innovations to enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor industry trends and benchmark plant performance against global standards.
- Lead energy conservation and sustainability initiatives within the electrical domain.
Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in Electrical engineering within the Thermal Power industry - Proven expertise in managing large-scale electrical operations, maintenance, and projects in power plants - Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with multiple departments
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university/institute - Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related specialization is preferred
Certification Required
- Certified Electrical Engineer or relevant professional certification - Safety certification related to electrical operations (e.g., Electrical Safety License) - Project management certification (PMP or equivalent) is an advantage
