About the Role

As Manager – Data Engineering, you will lead a team of data engineers to design, build, and optimize enterprise-scale data platforms. You will own the data lake architecture, oversee ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensure compliance with governance and security standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovation in cloud-based data engineering solutions

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers
  • Own and maintain data lake architecture and pipelines.
  • Design and implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows
  • Oversee ETL/ELT processes across enterprise systems (SAP, Salesforce, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards
  • Collaborate with architects, analysts, and IT to deliver analytics-ready data models
  • Drive best practices in CI/CD, automation, and performance optimization
  • Manage cloud infrastructure usage and cost optimization
  • Oversee data quality frameworks and modernization initiatives
  • Enable AI/ML-ready data architecture for advanced analytics
  • Support data strategy and roadmap development with the Head of Data & Analytica

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
  • 10 plus years of experience in Data Engineering, with 3–5 years in leadership
  • Expertise in one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Strong skills in SQL, Python, PySpark, and Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
  • Experience in data modelling (Star, Snowflake), metadata management, and ERP systems (SAP).
  • Knowledge of Power BI backend structures, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead distributed teams and manage budgets.
  • Exposure to AI/ML frameworks and cloud-native AI services.

Preferred:

  • Certifications (Azure DP‑203 / AWS Data Analytics Specialty / GCP Professional Data Engineer).
  • Experience in large-scale, global data environments.
  • Familiarity with streaming tools (Kafka, Event Hubs).
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or engineering organizations.
