Responsibilities

As the Manager - Mechanical - Projects, your responsibilities will encompass comprehensive oversight and leadership in all mechanical engineering aspects of power and energy projects. You will be accountable for the successful delivery of mechanical scopes while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Your key roles include:

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Lead detailed mechanical project planning, including resource allocation, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Engineering Design and Review: Oversee mechanical design development, review engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management: Collaborate with procurement teams to finalize technical specifications for mechanical equipment and materials. Evaluate vendor proposals and support supplier selection, ensuring quality and delivery commitments are met.
  • Construction and Installation Oversight: Supervise mechanical construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, quality standards, and safety protocols. Address site challenges proactively by coordinating with construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for mechanical works. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with project and regulatory standards.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up Support: Lead mechanical commissioning activities, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensure smooth handover of mechanical systems to operations teams.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and guide mechanical engineers and junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders, providing timely updates on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Safety and Compliance: Champion safety culture on site by enforcing adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and driving proactive risk management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and enhanced mechanical engineering practices to contribute to Adani's commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.

Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles applicable to power plants and energy infrastructure.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment such as turbines, boilers, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, PDMS, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Understanding of quality assurance/quality control processes and standards.
  • Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of EPC project lifecycle and construction management.

Non-Negotiable Skills

  • Strong project leadership and execution capabilities.
  • Comprehensive mechanical engineering expertise in the power/energy sector.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. A master's degree or relevant postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.

Experience

12-15 years of experience in mechanical engineering roles within the Power/Energy industry, preferably with exposure to large-scale power plant projects and EPC environments.
