About The Role
To drive the sourcing, procurement, and supplier management for Fruits & Vegetables (FnV). The role involves cost optimization, vendor negotiations, demand planning, and quality assurance to ensure a steady supply of FnV. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling FnV for FMCG, Retail, or e-commerce sectors @ regions and scale
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop and execute category buying strategies for FnV
- Source and onboard reliable vendors for FnV
- Ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Identify change in supply chain trends, Long term buying decision, developing NPD
- Vendor & Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure supply consistency and price competitiveness.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms to optimize costs.
- Monitor vendor performance through KPIs such as quality, delivery timelines, and service levels.
- Cost & Market Analysis
- Conduct market research to track price fluctuations in FnV
- Analyze cost structures to identify areas for savings and process improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and sustainability initiatives in FnV
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all packaging materials comply with FSSAI and sustainability standards.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to conduct supplier audits and testing.
- Implement eco-friendly and sustainable packaging initiatives as per company goals.
- Inventory & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure efficient inventory management.
- Optimize stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Work with the operations team to improve packaging efficiency and material utilization.
- Manage the damage and dump
- Creation of alternate sales solution
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Category Managers, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to align procurement strategies.
- Support new product launches by ensuring timely availability.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality and compliance.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: MBA in Agri Business is a plus.
- Experience: 5-7 years in FnV procurement, sourcing, or category management,retail, or e-commerce.
- Strong knowledge of FnV, suppliers, and market dynamics.
- Expertise in vendor negotiations, cost analysis, and procurement strategies.
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in data analysis, demand forecasting, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Background
- Experience in sourcing of FnV ( Fruits, Leafy, Vegetables & Exotics)
- Knowledge and exposure of origin sourcing
- Understanding of category management, pricing and dump - damage control
- Exposure to mandi and farm level procurement
