Role Purpose:

We are looking for a sharp, commercially-minded professional to join the Pine Labs Online team. This role is central to our growth strategy: your mission will be to own the relationship with our banking partners, negotiate aggressive buy rates, and optimize our acquiring stack to give our sales team a competitive edge.

You will be the bridge between our banking partners and our internal product/sales teams, ensuring we have the best-in-class pricing and technical integrations to scale our online payment gateway business.

Responsibilities we entrust you with:

  • Commercial Negotiation: Lead discussions with partner banks to secure lower buy rates (MDR/Net-take), directly impacting our margins and ability to scale sales.
  • Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all acquiring banks. Build and maintain deep relationships with key stakeholders at major private and public sector banks.
  • Product Optimization: Work closely with the product team to understand the acquiring roadmap (Net Banking, UPI, Cards, EMI) and ensure every acquirer's product features are fully utilized.
  • Business Scaling: Identify opportunities within each acquirer's ecosystem to drive higher volumes, improve success rates, and launch new payment instruments.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyse merchant-level performance, success rates, and cost of processing across different acquirers to optimize routing and profitability.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all acquiring partnerships adhere to the latest RBI guidelines and industry security standards.

What matters in this role:

  • Experience: 24 years of experience in the payments industry (Payment Gateway, Aggregator, or Merchant Acquiring bank).
  • Domain Expertise: Solid understanding of the online payments ecosystem, including MDR structures, settlement cycles, and the technical flow of card/UPI transactions.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to handle commercial discussions and close deals that balance volume and margin.
  • Analytical Mindset: Comfortable working with data to identify cost-saving opportunities and performance bottlenecks.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to navigate complex internal and external organizations.
