Overview:

Position Summary:

Provide management accounting support and financial insights to the Fleet and Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) businesses while ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and effective business partnering with operations and management.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and review journals, balance sheet reconciliations and stakeholder reports
  • Ensure financial data is complete, accurate, and compliant with company policies
  • Support internal and external audit requirements

Forecasting & Planning:

  • Prepare and drive budgets, forecasts and long-term planning exercises with stakeholders
  • Analyze variances to last forecast, last month, last year and budget
  • Support financial planning using SAP and Hyperion

Business Partnering & Analysis:

  • Partner with operations to provide financial insights and advice
  • Support decision-making through analysis and reporting
  • Identify risks, opportunities and cost improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of business processes

Asset & Leasing Management:

  • Manage financial reporting for Fleet and MHE assets
  • Monitor asset register, lease charges, asset performance, depreciation, and residual value risk
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing and cost recovery processes
  • Support asset lifecycle activities including acquisition and disposal planning
  • Coordinate settlement contracts and validate pricing and interest rates

Cost & Financial Management:

  • Ensure costs are accurately recorded and allocated
  • Oversee transactional processes and ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Monitor expenditure and identify cost control opportunities
  • Manage accruals and cost center performance

Intercompany & Transaction Oversight:

  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconcile differences
  • Ensure timely resolution of outstanding items and reduce aged debtors

Controls, Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Maintain strong internal controls
  • Support audit and statutory requirements

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Use SAP and Hyperion to support reporting and planning
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Improve data quality and reporting efficiency

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build effective relationships with operations, finance teams, and shared services
  • Provide clear and concise financial communication

Key Challenges:

  • Managing complex asset and leasing structures
  • Balancing operational support with financial control
  • Improving data quality across multiple systems
  • Delivering insights in a fast-paced operational environment

External: Leasing Partner, Suppliers

Key Requirements:

Experience and Qualifications:

Mandatory:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • CA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in fleet, logistics, or asset-based industries
  • Strong experience in management accounting within asset-intensive or leasing environments
  • Strong financial modelling, analysis, and forecasting capability
  • Experience with SAP and planning/reporting tools (e.g., Hyperion)

Desirable:

  • Experience with lease accounting and asset lifecycle management
  • Experience in large, multi-site or shared services environments
  • Exposure to process improvement or continuous improvement frameworks

Skills:

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret financial results
  • Ability to support operational decision-making through analysis
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and planning capability
  • Ability to identify risks, opportunities, and drive improvements
