About The Role
Due to ongoing growth and expansion, CommScope is seeking a dedicated Technician I, Maintenance to join our team at our site in Goa, India. This role is pivotal in maintaining the operational efficiency of our manufacturing equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. The Technician I will be responsible for executing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting and resolving breakdown issues, and assisting in the setup and commissioning of new machinery and production lines. The ideal candidate will work in a shift environment, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise in a dynamic manufacturing setting while contributing to the company's mission of delivering reliable connectivity solutions worldwide.
Qualifications
- B.E. in Electronics/Electrical Engineering with 12 years of relevant industrial experience
- OR
- Diploma in Electronics/Electrical Engineering with 35 years of hands-on manufacturing experience
- Proven experience in maintenance, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting of cable manufacturing lines and associated auxiliary equipment
- Strong exposure to preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance practices in a continuous process manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of PLC, HMI, AC/DC Drives (parameterization, fault diagnostics, tuning, basic commissioning), and AC/DC motors
- Familiarity with industrial sensors such as proximity, photoelectric, encoders, load cells, temperature controllers, and pressure transducers
- Hands-on experience in resolving issues related to drive faults, signal interruptions, control panels, wiring, and power distribution systems
- Basic understanding of mechanical components including gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively within the team and with other departments
Responsibilities
- Executing preventive maintenance (PM) schedules as per the established plan to ensure continuous equipment operation
- Attending to and resolving breakdown calls promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency
- Controlling metrics such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) to improve maintenance effectiveness
- Escalating unresolved issues or pending jobs to higher management for timely resolution
- Adhering to all safety norms and ensuring compliance with safety standards during maintenance activities
- Maintaining the highest standards of 5S and workplace organization to promote a safe and efficient environment
- Monitoring and controlling spare parts consumption, highlighting any deviations or shortages
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards to uphold safety and quality
- Maximizing machinery uptime through quick troubleshooting and effective maintenance practices
- Developing and modifying machine components, tools, and fixtures as required to support production needs
- Working in rotational shifts (including night shifts) to support 24/7 manufacturing operations
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, root cause analysis, and cost reduction projects
