We are seeking a skilledMainframe Production Support Engineerto manage, troubleshoot, and optimize mainframe applications in a production environment. The ideal candidate should have experience inmonitoring, incident resolution, job scheduling, and batch processingto ensure system stability and high availability.
- Monitor and support mainframe production environments, ensuring system reliability and uptime.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve job failures, abends, and performance issues.
- Execute batch jobs and resolve scheduling conflicts using tools likeCA-7, Control-M, or TWS.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to identify root causes and implement long-term fixes.
- Work with JCL, COBOL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS to support application processes.
- Automate repetitive tasks and improve monitoring using scripting languages where applicable.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when necessary.
- Document procedures, issue resolutions, and create knowledge base articles for future reference.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes, includingincident, problem, and change management.
- Perform regular health checks and maintenance of mainframe systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experiencein Mainframe Production Support.
- Strong expertise inJCL, COBOL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and TSO/ISPF.
- Hands-on experience with job scheduling tools likeCA-7, Control-M, or TWS.
- Proficiency in incident and problem management processes (ITIL framework preferred).
- Experience with monitoring tools likeOMEGAMON, BMC MainView, or Tivoli.
- Ability to analyze logs, dumps, and performance metrics for issue resolution.
- Good understanding of disaster recovery and backup strategies for mainframe environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a24x7 support environmentwith rotating shifts.
