Mainframe Modernization Engineer

Roles and responsibilities (1-2 Years total experience)

• Develop, unittest, and maintainmainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, IMS DB/DC, Assembler and CICS.
• Awareness of DevOps, CI/CD and basic hands on with java/python.
• Debug and resolve technical issues for mainframe applications.
• Documentation of code and governance artefacts.
• Identify and implement performance improvements and optimizations.
• Automation of repetitive tasks like testing and deploying code.
• Able to use modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) like Visual Studio Code (VS Code), Cursor AI with extensions like Explorer for Endevor, Amazon Q, DevX, Zowe etc. to enhance developer productivity.
• Embrace Git and Endevor for source code management.
• LeveragingAI (Cursor AI, if possible) for regular development, refactoring, optimization, analysis, security and transformation.
