Mainframe Developer - JCL/COBOL/DB2

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with 5 to 10 years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and Agile Software Development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe). The Mainframe Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mainframe applications that meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Application Development: Design, develop, test, and implement robust mainframe applications utilizing COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Requirements Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather comprehensive requirements and ensure that developed applications precisely meet business needs.
• System Lifecycle Management: Perform thorough system analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and comprehensive documentation for mainframe solutions.
• Optimization & Enhancement: Optimize and enhance existing mainframe applications to improve performance and maintainability.
• Production Support: Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing downtime.
• Agile Participation: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing to team efficiency.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process enhancements within the mainframe development lifecycle.
• Code Quality: Ensure high code quality and strict adherence to established coding standards and best practices.
• Industry Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in mainframe technology to drive innovation.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience:5 to 10 years of experience in mainframe development.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Methodology: Strong understanding of Agile Software Development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
• Tools: Experience with mainframe tools and utilities.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
• Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or a related industry.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
