We are looking for a skilled Mainframe DB2 Administrator with 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience in managing and supporting DB2 databases in a z/OS environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of DB2 internals, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security, along with experience working in enterprise-level environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM DB2 databases on mainframe (z/OS) systems
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as reorgs, backups, and updates
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures to optimize efficiency
- Plan and execute DB2 database upgrades and patch management
- Manage database security, roles, and access controls
- Support application development teams by providing DB2-related guidance and resolving database-related issues
- Perform capacity planning and storage management
- Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and execution
- Maintain documentation for DB2 database architecture, standards, and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for change and incident management
Required Skills:
- 4 to 5 years of experience as a DB2 Database Administrator on mainframe (z/OS) platforms
- Strong knowledge of DB2 utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD, COPY, RECOVER, etc.)
- Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting of DB2 databases
- Proficient in JCL, REXX, and TSO/ISPF
- Experience with backup and recovery strategies
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools and automation
- Understanding of DB2 catalog, indexing, and locking mechanisms
- Knowledge of RACF and mainframe security practices
Good to Have:
- Experience with COBOL and DB2 application support
- Exposure to change management tools (e.g., Endevor, BMC, CA Tools)
- Knowledge of DB2 Connect and integrations with distributed systems
- ITIL foundation or knowledge of service management practices

- Willingness to support on-call rotations and weekend maintenance activities as required
