Job Description
Machine operator 1- Powder Coating
India Kancheepuram
You will be responsible for end‑to‑end Powder Coating Booth operations, ensuring safety, 5S compliance, equipment upkeep, and efficient powder usage. Maintain coating quality through correct gun operation, powder mixing, preventive maintenance, and stringent process parameter and quality checks (DFT, impact, scratch, gloss, and bend tests).
You will report to Manager, Engineering and follow a Hybrid working schedule in India Kancheepuram.
Your responsibilities:
- Take complete responsibility for entire Powder Coating Booth operations, including 5S implementation (Step 1 - Sort & Step 2 - Set in Order).
- Ensure safety compliance across the entire powder coating booth and related equipment.
- Operate and maintain Electrostatic Powder Coating Guns, ensuring functionality and performance.
- Perform and update the Daily Maintenance Checklist for the powder coating booth and equipment.
- Maintain jigs, templates, hooks, and fixtures used in powder coating operations.
- Manage recycled powder percentage, ensuring effective recovery and removal of wastage.
- Follow work instructions to maintain accurate powder mixing ratios.
- Ensure quality by monitoring and performing important process parameter checks, including:
- Impact Test
- Scratch Test
- DFT (Dry Film Thickness) Test
- Gloss Level Test
- Bend Test
- Follow proper chemical handling procedures for powders and pretreatment chemicals.
- Perform regular cleaning of electrostatic guns, booth interiors, ovens, baths, and powder coating process areas.
- Manage machine output, meeting quality, productivity, and delivery targets.
- Ensure PPE compliance following the approved PPE Matrix.
- Train and guide co‑associates effectively.
- Operate and maintain the Pretreatment (PT) Line following defined standards and parameters.
- Update the Daily Production Checklist accurately.
- Prepare and submit Daily Rejection and Rework Reports, and support corrective action implementation.
- Maintain full accountability of powders and chemicals, including proper usage, storage, and control.
- Initiate and participate in Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) activities.
- Take care of the entire Powder Coating Area, including booth, jigs, hooks, oven, bath, and housekeeping activities.
- Ensure safe loading and unloading components during powder coating operations.
- Work in any part of the production line if required.
- Support skill matrix upgrades through multi‑skilling and cross‑training.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Stand for extended periods during production operations.
- Capability to handle tools, components, and manual assembly tasks.
- Willingness to work in shifts following production and operational requirements.
The essentials -You will have
- Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in Powder Coating Booth operations within a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- ITI / Diploma or equivalent technical qualification.
- Knowledge of powder coating processes, quality parameters, safety standards, and chemical handling.
- High level of ownership, discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement mindset.
