Floe Health is an AI-driven healthcare technology company focused on fixing referral breakdowns and coordinating patient journeys across health systems. We work with leaders across major provider networks and are building a high-velocity product team to support upcoming deployments.
We are hiring Machine Learning Interns who want real-world startup experience, meaningful ownership, and exposure to applied ML inside a fast-moving AI company. This role is ideal for students who understand core ML concepts and want to contribute to real models, data pipelines, and evaluations that support production use cases.
Responsibilities
As a Machine Learning Intern, you will:
- Assist in building and maintaining ML pipelines for classification, prediction, and information extraction
- Work with Python-based ML stacks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face)
- Clean, preprocess, and analyze structured and unstructured healthcare datasets
- Contribute to prompt engineering and evaluation workflows for LLM-based systems
- Collaborate with engineering to integrate models into product workflows
- Document experiments, metrics, and learnings
- Take end-to-end ownership of small ML research or data tasks
Qualifications
Required:
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or related field (any year)
- Strong understanding of ML fundamentals: supervised learning, model evaluation, bias/variance, etc.
- Experience with Python and common ML libraries (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn)
- Ability to run experiments and analyze results
- Comfort working with Git and following basic workflows
- Curiosity, initiative, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
Nice to have:
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers
- Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, or embeddings
- Knowledge of data preprocessing for text or time-series data
- Understanding of evaluation frameworks, A/B testing, or metrics design
- Side projects, research papers, or Kaggle work demonstrating hands-on ML experience
- Exposure to healthcare data (not required)
