Role Overview: The Livestream Moderator manages the live chat environment during shopping broadcasts, ensuring conversations stay organized, positive, and conversion-focused in the comment section. Moderators support the host and production team by answering viewer questions, removing spam or inappropriate comments, and guiding viewers toward purchasing actions. This role is critical for maintaining professional livestream quality and driving viewer engagement during live commerce events.
Core Responsibilities
Chat Management
Monitor live chat throughout the broadcast.
Remove spam, offensive, inappropriate or negative comments towards the brand or product.
Mute or block disruptive viewers when necessary.
Maintain a respectful and brand-safe environment.
Audience Engagement
Respond to viewer questions in real time.
Welcome new viewers and encourage participation.
Highlight and surface important questions for the host.
Keep chat active to maintain viewer engagement.
Sales Support
Post and pin product links in chat.
Follow up in private messages with potential buyers
Share discount codes and promotional messages.
Remind viewers of limited offers, product drops, and inventory updates.
Guide viewers toward purchase actions during the livestream.
Host & Production Support.
Notify the producer of any issues affecting the stream.
Maintain coordination with the host and production team during the broadcast.
Brand Representation
Ensure messaging aligns with brand guidelines.
Maintain a professional tone in all chat interactions.
Represent both the client brand during the stream.
Key Skills
Strong written communication
Fast typing and multitasking ability
Familiarity with livestream platforms (TikTok Live, YouTube Live, Amazon Live, etc.)
Customer service mindset
Ability to manage high-volume chat environments
Working Hours & Stream Duration
Livestreams typically run between 4 and 8 hours per session.
Moderators are expected to remain actively engaged in chat for the full duration of the livestream.
Streams operate primarily during U.S. time zones, and moderators must be available to work during U.S. business or evening hours, depending on the show schedule.
