Position Overview
The Literacy Program Operations Associate supports the smooth implementation of Room to Read's two core programs:
- Girls Education Program (GEP): Supports girls to stay in secondary school and build life skills through mentoring, life skills education, and community engagement
- Literacy Program (LP): Strengthens foundational reading skills in primary school through teacher training, learning materials, and classroom support
In this role, you will coordinate day-to-day operations across both programs, track activities and budgets, and ensure timely follow-up with state teams.
This is a hands-on role focused on execution, coordination, and follow-through, working closely with program teams, Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RM&E), administration, and communications to keep operations running efficiently.

What You Will Do
Program Coordination & Execution
- Support implementation of Girls Education Program (GEP) and Literacy Program (LP) operations
- Maintain and regularly update trackers for program activities, procurement, and state deliverables
- Follow up with state teams to ensure timely submission of reports, budgets, and updates
- Coordinate with the administration team for procurement and operational requirements
- Support resolution of day-to-day operational issues across programs
Planning & Budget Tracking
- Support annual planning and budgeting (AP&B) processes
- Track budgets and expenditures across states and follow up on gaps or variances
- Assist state teams in aligning plans with operational and financial requirements
Reporting & Data Support
- Review monthly and quarterly program reports and dashboards
- Work with Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RM&E) team to track program progress
- Analyze data and highlight key issues or trends for follow-up
- Document best practices and lessons learned from program implementation
Cross-team Coordination
- Work closely with program, Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RM&E), administration, and communications teams
- Support coordination for donor visits and program-related activities
- Participate in internal meetings, reviews, and planning discussions
Field Support
- Travel to program locations to support implementation and monitor operations
- Ensure processes and systems are practical and effective at the field level
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in program coordination, operations, or project support in a nonprofit or development organization
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Experience tracking budgets, expenditures, or program activities
- Comfort working with data, trackers, and basic reporting tools (Excel or similar)
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills across multiple teams
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams including program, Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RM&E), and administration
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Willingness to travel to field locations as required
