Overview
We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator who is a subject matter expert when it comes to DNS to join the contractor program in supporting critical customer engagement. This role is ideal for an engineer who loves puzzles and problem-solving, is curious, is not afraid to ask questions, is helpful to others, enjoys mentoring and teaching, and has experience with DNS, network, *nix operating systems, and coding. The successful candidate will work closely with the customer's DNS system team responsible for the design,
implementation, and operations of the DNS systems to deliver at-scale solutions.
Required Credentials
Experience in networking.
Formal education in computer networking, information technology, or equivalent practical experience
Required Qualifications
Environment: RHEL, Bind, PowerDNS, Terraform, Ansible, AWS, GCP
Coding: Perl, PHP, Python, C++, golang
Development: maintain and improve existing code consisting of tools, automation, services, etc.; develop new solutions for our internal customers
Troubleshooting: understanding of *nix os, networking protocols, applications our services run to be able to diagnose and fix problems
Attitude: Friendly, enjoys working with others and will keep up with and learn new
technology; Sense of ownership of our service and an if-not-me-then-who attitude about fixing things
Useful Qualifications
BS degree or equivalent industry experience. Typical candidates have a BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience.
Candidates must be comfortable coding and be willing to learn or code in a variety of languages. Perl, Python, golang, PHP, and C++. (We don't expect someone to be an expert in all of them)
Candidates must understand basic networking principles and can explain how and why packets flow the way they do
Candidates must have a base understanding of process, memory, filesystem, networking, and common troubleshooting techniques on *nix and RHEL-like operating systems

Scope And Solution Expectations
Operate, maintain, and support production DNS platforms running on Linux and other *nix-based systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability at scale
Participate in the design, implementation, and day-to-day operations of DNS services, working within established architectures and contributing improvements where appropriate
Troubleshoot and resolve complex DNS, system, and network-related issues, performing deep technical analysis to identify root causes and implement durable fixes
Identify opportunities for automation and operational improvements, and develop scripts or tooling to reduce manual effort and increase consistency
Maintain and improve system configurations, monitoring, and alerting related to DNS infrastructure
Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new technologies or approaches that improve DNS reliability, scalability, or operational efficiency
Create and maintain clear technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs to support operational continuity and knowledge sharing
Collaborate closely with peers across infrastructure, network, and application teams to resolve cross-domain issues
High sense of ownership, accountability, and collaboration.
