Job Title --Cloud Engineer L2 (Linux, Microservices & Configuration Management)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer (L2) with strong expertise in Linux system administration, cloud infrastructure, and microservices-based application environments. The role involves handling Level 2 operational support, managing Linux servers, supporting containerized and microservices applications, and maintaining configuration management to ensure system stability, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud & Infrastructure Operations (L2)
Provide L2 support for cloud infrastructure on AWS / Azure.
Monitor cloud resources and troubleshoot infrastructure-related incidents.
Manage compute, storage, networking, and IAM components.
Support high availability (HA), auto-scaling, and disaster recovery (DR) setups.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions.
Execute change requests following ITIL change management processes.
Linux OS Administration
Administer Linux servers (RHEL / CentOS / Ubuntu).
Perform OS installation, patching, upgrades, and system hardening.
Manage users, groups, permissions, sudo access, and SSH security.
Monitor system performance (CPU, memory, disk, I/O) and tune as required.
Troubleshoot OS-level issues, services, and kernel-related problems.
Manage cron jobs, system services, and log analysis.
Microservices Architecture Support
Support applications built on microservices architecture.
Understand service-to-service communication, APIs, and dependencies.
Assist in troubleshooting containerized applications (Docker).
Support orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes / OpenShift.
Monitor microservices health, scaling behaviour, and fault tolerance.
Work with development teams during deployments and releases.
Configuration Management & Automation
Implement and manage configuration management tools (Ansible / Terraform).
Ensure consistency across environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Maintain configuration baselines and version-controlled configurations.
Automate routine operational tasks and deployments.
Support CI/CD pipelines from an infrastructure and configuration perspective.
Security, Monitoring & Compliance
Apply Linux and cloud security best practices.
Support vulnerability remediation, audits, and compliance requirements.
Manage backups, restore, and log retention.
Integrate monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Site 24*7, Cloud-native tools).
Ensure compliance with organizational security standards.
Documentation & Collaboration
Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
Provide L3 escalation support inputs and mentor L1 teams.
Coordinate with DevOps, application, and security teams.
Participate in on-call rotations and shift-based operations as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience in Linux system administration.
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure).
Understanding of microservices architecture and containerization.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with configuration management tools
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals and Linux security.
Experience
46 years of experience in Linux, cloud infrastructure, and L2 support roles.
Experience supporting production microservices environments.
Soft Skills
Strong troubleshooting and analytical mindset.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Ability to handle production incidents under pressure.
Proactive and collaborative team player.
Preferred / Nice To Have
Cloud certifications (AWS / Azure Associate level).
ITIL Foundation certification.
Exposure to GitOps and advanced automation practices.

247 support environment (shift/on-call as applicable).
