About The Role

The Legal Counsel role at P&G India offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal professional to be an integral part of our dynamic team based in Mumbai. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic legal partner, providing comprehensive legal advice across a broad spectrum of laws including commercial, advertising, pharmaceutical, competition, labor, industrial, and environmental regulations. This role involves managing disputes across the Indian subcontinent and supporting various business initiatives through legal guidance and contract management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in legal advisory, preferably with a qualification as a company secretary, and demonstrate proactive leadership and strategic thinking. As part of our legal team, you will collaborate closely with internal departments and external counsel to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and uphold the integrity of our brand and operations.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of professional experience in a reputable law firm or within the legal department of a multinational corporation, preferably within the pharma or FMCG industry.
  • Company Secretary qualification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial contracting, legal advisory, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience advising on marketing, advertising, and managing legal disputes is advantageous.
  • Strong strategic thinking, proactive leadership, and the ability to operate independently.
  • Proven success in professional and personal endeavors, exhibiting high integrity and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal guidance on industry-specific laws, ethical promotions, and compliance requirements across all business functions.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts and agreements to support business development and operational needs.
  • Offer legal advice on marketing initiatives, advertising campaigns, product communication, and promotional activities.
  • Support intellectual property matters, including trademarks, patents, and licensing issues.
  • Assist in negotiating and executing business development agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Implement and monitor compliance programs related to FCPA, anti-bribery laws, competition laws, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the Government Relations team on regulatory and governmental affairs.
  • Partner with internal teams such as Medical, Regulatory, HR, Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Distribution to address legal issues and ensure alignment.
  • Advise on go-to-market strategies and product launches from a legal perspective.
  • Manage disputes across various forums, including litigation and arbitration, ensuring effective resolution.
  • Oversee relationships with external legal service providers and counsel to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
