About The Role
We are seeking a Legal Counsel – Contracts & Business Legal to support the organisation across a range of legal matters, with a primary focus on commercial contracts, negotiations, and operational legal advisory.
In a fast-growing organisation, legal support is not limited to compliance alone. It plays an important role in enabling partnerships, safeguarding commercial interests, and ensuring that business decisions are supported by sound legal judgment.
This role will work closely with internal teams to draft and review agreements, identify potential risks, and provide practical legal guidance that enables the organisation to operate efficiently while remaining compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Contracts & Negotiations:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements including vendor agreements, partnership contracts, technology and SaaS agreements, consultancy agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
- Support internal teams during contract negotiations to ensure the organisation's commercial interests are protected.
- Identify contractual risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
- Maintain and improve contract templates and standard legal documentation frameworks.
Business Legal & Compliance
- Provide legal support on general business legal matters and operational issues.
- Assist with labour law and employment-related legal requirements, including employment contracts, policies, and compliance.
- Conduct legal research and provide guidance on regulations relevant to business operations.
- Maintain documentation and legal records related to agreements and compliance.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors when specialised advice is required.
Regulatory, Litigation & IP Support
- Liaise with statutory and regulatory authorities for filings, registrations, and compliance matters.
- Assist with registrations, filings, and renewals required under applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the execution, stamping, and registration of agreements and legal documents where required.
- Assist in management of the company's intellectual property, including coordination of trademark searches, filings, and renewals.
Selection Criteria
Education & Academic Background
- LLB / BA LLB from a recognised university.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial contracts and legal drafting, either in a law firm or an in-house legal environment.
- Exposure to vendor agreements, partnership contracts, and operational legal matters.
- Experience working with technology companies, startups, or high-growth organisations will be an advantage.
