Purpose And Scope
The Learning Design and Communications Partner plays a key role in shaping the learner experience and driving engagement across enterprise-wide leadership and capability programs at Astellas Pharma.
As a core member of the enterprise learning team, this role integrates learning design, visual storytelling, content authoring, and stakeholder partnership to ensure programs are not only operationally sound, but compelling, visually cohesive, and impactful.
The role is responsible for designing and packaging learning experiences, building communication campaigns, developing digital learning assets (including Articulate-based modules), and producing multimedia materials that elevate enterprise programs. The Learning Design and Communications Partner works closely with senior leaders, facilitators, HR, and global stakeholders to translate strategy into engaging learning and communication experiences.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Learning Experience Design & Content Authoring: Design engaging learning experiences aligned to enterprise leadership and capability priorities. Develop digital learning modules using authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise). Translate complex business content into clear, engaging, learner-centered digital experiences. Apply instructional design principles to enhance engagement, retention, and application.
- Visual Design & Creative Asset Development: Create visually compelling graphics, templates, toolkits, and presentation materials for leadership programs and enterprise initiatives. Ensure strong visual storytelling and brand alignment across learning materials. Develop program launch assets, facilitator decks, participant guides, infographics, and job aids. Maintain consistency with enterprise visual standards and brand guidelines. Identify opportunities to enhance learner engagement through improved design and communication practices. Capture feedback and incorporate lessons learned into future content iterations.
- Learning Communications & Campaign Development: Design and execute communication packages to support enterprise program launches and key learning initiatives. Craft compelling messaging and storytelling that drives awareness, engagement, and participation. Develop communication toolkits for HR and business leaders to cascade messaging effectively. Partner with stakeholders to ensure clarity, alignment, and audience-appropriate messaging.
- Video & Multimedia Production: Develop and edit short-form learning videos, leadership messages, and promotional assets. Apply intermediate-level video editing techniques to produce professional-quality content. Integrate multimedia elements into digital learning experiences to enhance engagement. Stay current on emerging digital learning and multimedia design trends.
- Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Build strong, trusted relationships with global and regional stakeholders, including senior leaders, HR colleagues, facilitators, and vendors. Translate stakeholder needs into clear design and communication solutions. Provide consultation on learning design approaches and communication strategy. Manage multiple stakeholders and priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Program Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support enterprise program delivery through high-quality design and communication materials. Collaborate with learning operations and technology colleagues to ensure seamless program execution. Contribute to planning discussions and provide creative direction for new initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in learning design, internal communications, multimedia production, or a related field within a complex, global organization.
- Strong experience using content authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and/or Rise.
- Demonstrated capability in graphic design and creation of visually appealing, professional learning assets.
- Intermediate video editing skills using professional editing software.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management capability, with experience partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and brand consistency.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global learning team.
- Qualification in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
