Job Description

Role Title: Learning & Development Manager – APAC

Location:Gurugram

Role Overview

Material is looking for a hands-on Learning & Development lead for APAC who will independently own and drive the regional learning agenda. This role is ideal for a senior L&D professional who enjoys end-to-end ownership, combines strategic thinking with strong facilitation skills, and prefers doing the work personally rather than managing large teams.

The role focuses on building leadership and people capabilities aligned to business needs and Material values, while ensuring disciplined execution and measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Strategy & Capability Building

  • Define and execute the APAC learning strategy and annual learning plan aligned to business priorities and workforce capability needs.
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders to identify skill gaps and design practical learning solutions.
  • Ensure learning interventions are relevant, scalable, and impact-driven.

Learning Design & Content Development

  • Design and develop learning experiences for core people and leadership skills, including:
  • Manager effectiveness
  • Feedback and coaching
  • Communication and influence
  • Collaboration and trust
  • Values-based leadership
  • Customize global learning content for local cultural and business contexts.
  • Create facilitator guides, participant materials, toolkits, and reinforcement assets.

Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Personally facilitate soft-skills and leadership programs across levels in virtual and in-person formats.
  • Lead interactive workshops, leadership sessions, and capability-building programs with confidence and credibility.
  • Engage external facilitators or SMEs only where specialized expertise is required.

Program & Learning Operations

  • Manage end-to-end execution of learning programs including planning, communication, scheduling, and follow-through.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and learning partners as needed.
  • Track L&D budgets, contracts, and subscriptions in partnership with HR Operations and Finance.

Learning Analytics & Measurement

  • Manage learning systems and ensure accurate reporting and data hygiene.
  • Track participation, feedback, and learning effectiveness metrics.
  • Provide clear insights to HR and leadership on learning outcomes and areas for improvement.

Success Measures

  • Strong leader and participant feedback on relevance, facilitation quality, and usefulness of programs.
  • Demonstrated improvement in manager and leadership capability through learning interventions.
  • Consistent, reliable delivery of APAC learning programs.

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 6–10 years of experience in Learning & Development.
  • Proven experience owning L&D programs end-to-end as an individual contributor.
  • Strong background in facilitating leadership and soft-skills training.
  • Experience working closely with senior managers and leaders.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA or Master's degree in HR, Psychology, or related field preferred.

Key Skills

  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong learning design and content development capability.
  • Ability to partner effectively with business and HR stakeholders.
  • High level of execution discipline, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with learning data and insights.
