Job Description Of Head Purchase

About the Role: This role is for a strategic and results-oriented Purchase Head to lead our procurement department. In this role, He/she will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing strategy, vendor development, managing both direct and indirect Purchase.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies for Direct Purchase (raw materials, components) and Indirect Purchase (MRO, office supplies, services) to ensure business continuity.
- Project Purchase Management: Lead procurement activities for specific company projects, ensuring all materials and services are delivered on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.
- CAPEX & OPEX Oversight: Manage capital expenditure projects, optimize operational expenditure by identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Vendor Development & Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard high-potential vendors. Build robust, long-term relationships and implement Vendor Rating Systems to monitor performance and compliance.
- Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead high-stakes negotiations to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Process Optimization: Streamline procurement workflows and improve transparency and reduce lead times.
Key Skills
Vendor Development Expertise in market mapping, supplier auditing, and developing backup sourcing channels.
Financial Acumen Deep understanding of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), cash flow management, and budget forecasting.
Technical Knowledge Compliance Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications for Project Purchase accuracy. Strong knowledge of taxation (GST/Customs), import-export regulations, and ethical sourcing standards. Leadership Proven ability to lead a diverse team and collaborate with other functions
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Experience: 10+ years in purchase, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Industry: Experience in manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
