Profile Summary:

Lead Test Engineer is expected to validate product quality by performing automated functional tests. They will be embedded with development team. In addition to the functional testing, Lead Automation Engineer will also be responsible for performing necessary non-functional testing.

Roles & Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned)

  • Lead and guide a team of QA engineers, providing technical direction, mentoring, and day-to-day support.
  • Define and execute test strategies, test plans, and detailed test cases for access control, security, and connected products.
  • Own end-to-end testing activities including manual and automation testing to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation test frameworks using Selenium (Web) and Appium (Mobile) with Python or Java.
  • Ensure comprehensive functional, regression, integration, system, performance, and basic security testing coverage.
  • Collaborate closely with Development, Product Management, and DevOps teams to improve test effectiveness and release quality.
  • Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing initiatives.
  • Review test results, analyze failures, and drive root cause analysis with development teams.
  • Continuously improve QA processes, test coverage, tools, and best practices.
  • Identify quality risks early and proactively raise concerns related to functionality, stability, and security.
  • Track test execution, defects, and quality metrics using tools such as JIRA, TestRail or similar. Support release readiness activities and sign-off decisions based on test results and risk assessment

Education And/or Experience: -

  • 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance with 2+ years in a QA Lead or ownership role.
  • Strong experience in manual and automation testing for Web, Mobile, and security-focused products.
  • Hands-on expertise in Selenium WebDriver and Appium for Web and Mobile automation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or Java for test automation development.
  • Experience in test planning, estimation, execution, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Proficiency in API testing using Postman, RestAssured, or similar tools.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD concepts, with hands-on exposure to Jenkins, Git, and test automation integration.
  • Experience on performance and security testing tools and concepts.
  • Familiarity with access control systems, IoT devices, RFID, smart cards, or biometric solutions is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Proactive mindset with ownership and accountability for product quality.

Domain & Technical Advantage

  • Experience working with access control systems (reader, controller, headend applications)
  • Exposure to hardware-software integration testing
  • Understanding of system configuration, troubleshooting, and real-world deployment scenarios
  • Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and secure access workflows
