We are seeking a Lead System Engineer - Oracle Database Admin to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving the reliability and scalability of mission-critical database systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions and support ongoing innovation in enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
- Architect, configure, and oversee enterprise-level Oracle database infrastructures
- Lead major database upgrades, patching cycles, platform migrations, and consolidation initiatives
- Design and administer high-availability and disaster recovery solutions using Oracle Data Guard and related technologies
- Perform advanced performance tuning, including SQL optimization, instance tuning, and memory management
- Implement and enhance backup and recovery strategies utilizing RMAN
- Conduct capacity planning, analyze growth trends, and recommend improvements for scalability
- Enforce security protocols, manage credential rotations, govern access, and ensure audit compliance
- Support development teams with code reviews, query optimization, and schema design guidance
- Validate deployment plans, participate in Change Advisory Boards (CABs), and ensure successful release execution
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and best practices
- Drive automation initiatives using Shell, Python, and Ansible, and adopt modern operational enhancements
- Mentor L2 team members and act as an escalation point for complex technical issues
Requirements
- 914 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator
- Minimum one year of experience leading and managing development teams
- In-depth expertise in RAC, ASM, multitenant architecture, partitioning, and advanced Oracle internals
- Strong background in Data Guard configuration, switchover/failover operations, and disaster recovery design
- Advanced skills in SQL/PLSQL performance tuning and analysis of AWR, ASH, and trace files
- Proficiency in RMAN backup strategies, troubleshooting restores, and managing recovery scenarios
- Solid Linux administration capabilities and strong command of Shell and Python scripting
- Working knowledge of at least one additional RDBMS such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB
- Experience leading resolution of high-impact production issues and coordinating with global teams
- Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken) at a B2+ level or higher
Nice to have
- Experience working with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Familiarity with Oracle GoldenGate, ODI, or other data integration technologies
- Background in infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, or CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of security frameworks, compliance audits, and governance processes
- Oracle professional-level certifications such as OCP or OCE
